Duration: 4 months
Task: Prototype a new design for a website
Photoshop: for the design of the icons.
Figma: To prototype the final design of the website.
Hot Jar: To do user testing.
In this step I interviewed students to work with me as UX Designers. I believe it is of great asset to have other eyes look at your design.
In this step I did research by comparing different News Websites both locally and globally. The work partner I decided to hire and I where constantly looking at different designs and communicating what features we liked the most.
With the expertise of my co-worker, we decided to use heat-maps to visually understand what people where understanding the most.
We conveyed user testing in person to understand the behaviour of users when interacting with the website. We analyzed and recorded comments and attitudes that the user had with the website.
Furthermore, we created an account in "Hotjar" is a powerful tool that reveals the online behavior and voice of your users. By combining both Analysis and Feedback tools, Hotjar gives you the 'big picture' of how to improve your site's user experience and performance/conversion rates.
Prototyping and testing
Using the software "Figma" we design a low fidelity and high fidelity version of our prototype. The designs where done for devices like: Tablet, desktop and mobile version.
I think the biggest challenge was that we had to design around the ads. We had to consider for each page the number of ads that we had to include and still make the page look visually appealing and user friendly. The ads are crucial for the website because one of their biggest income comes from Pay-Per click marketing.
